July 2023 – Thoughts from Our Founder

As we approach our 8th anniversary, we reflect on the journey we have taken to support some of the most vulnerable members of our community. We are thrilled to extend to you a special invitation that carries immense significance for us and the cause we passionately support.

During October, we will be hosting an Anniversary Drive, and we would be honored to have you join us in making a positive impact. We kindly request you to “Save the Date” for an upcoming drive that promises to make a positive impact on the lives of immigrant Hispanic victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes.

This year, we celebrate 8 years of dedicated service, and years of facing many, many challenges while providing culturally specific services tailored to the needs of our clients in an area that is not ready to properly serve them. At the same time, we have been fighting ongoing battles while pursuing a fairer response when immigrant victims of crime reach out for help. We have been pushing for system changes and serving and empowering our clients and our community as a whole. We are grateful for your ongoing support while we continue navigating difficult waters and fighting for justice for our clients.

The struggles our clients face often go unnoticed and unaddressed due to the complexity of their situations. Their struggles, compounded by the challenges of immigration and language barriers, are deeply concerning, and we are committed to making a change.

They are confronted with not only the challenges of escaping abusive relationships but also the additional obstacles that come with being immigrants in an area where is common for staff members to use their personal biases and anti-immigrant behaviors against victims that are reaching out for help, escaping from the claws of violence in their homes.

Immigrant victims of domestic violence often find themselves trapped in abusive relationships due to a lack of resources, language barriers, and fears related to their immigration status. Many times, they feel isolated and helpless, unaware of the support available to them.

Through our anniversary fundraising drive, we aim to raise awareness about their struggles, and your support will allow us to continue providing them with a platform to rebuild their lives. At CasaLuz, we believe that every person deserves a life free from fear and violence. By coming together, we can be a beacon of hope for immigrant victims of domestic violence and help them regain the confidence, independence, and dignity they deserve
