October 2023 – Thoughts from Our Founder

As we celebrate our 8th Anniversary and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and pride for the incredible journey that CasaLuz has undertaken. These eight years have been an amazing rollercoaster ride full of ups and downs, but we have been able to succeed against all the odds. Our journey has been uphill and difficult, but at the same time, it has allowed us to become stronger and to prove to ourselves that with determination, dedication, and by finding the right partners who understand and support our mission, we can make a reality the many dreams we have on behalf of our Hispanic/Latinx community.

Now, we are filled with growth, resilience, partners, and supporters. We also celebrate the local aid and the unwavering support from the Department of Justice and the State of Tennessee who have awarded CasaLuz the main funds to provide culturally and linguistically vital services tailored to the needs of some of the most vulnerable members of our community, the Immigrant/Hispanic victims of violent crimes.

Together, we have achieved incredible milestones, and your continued support and participation serve as a beacon of hope for our community. As we look ahead, we are excited to embark on another year of making a positive impact in the lives of Hispanic/Latinx survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes in the Memphis/Shelby County area.

Our anniversary celebrations and the tremendous success of our anniversary drive could not have been possible without your generous contributions, and I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our esteemed sponsors: First South Financial, La Prensa Latina, JZ Services, Midtown Krav Maga, Africa Gonzalez McCloy from Crye-Leike, Scroggs Interpreters & Translators, Buenas Nuevas Network, Salsa Memphis, Jessica Cañizalez Studio, MidSouth Latino Chamber of Commerce, Latino Memphis, Memphis Noticias, La Espiga Bakery, Jat Yoga, Dilia Flores Studio, MC Photography, Estrella TV Memphis 16.1, Bolt by Maria Calvo.

Our online auction was a success! We had a small gathering to celebrate our anniversary and received more bids. All the winners have been contacted.
