Besides providing saving lives services, information, and support, our organization has helped individuals move forward out of violence in their lives, overcome their fears and obstacles, and forge a path toward a brighter future for themselves and their children.
The stories of resilience, hope, and triumph that have emerged from our interactions with victims/survivors serve as a poignant reminder of the profound impact of our work. Whether it be a mother of 5 leaving an abusive relationship, finding hope, feeling heard and believed, not judged, and a welcoming place where culture, language, and empathy are not an obstacle, or providing individual counseling to our client’s children and teens exposed to domestic violence (most of them have been born in the U.S.) and being able to have an early intervention to break the cycle of generational abuse, each success story is a testament to the transformative power of compassion, perseverance, and support.
In 2023, as a small non-profit organization in Memphis, TN the staff is composed mainly of Latina immigrant women with stubborn hearts and determination to serve some of the most vulnerable and isolated members of our community, keeping our focus on our mission and not at the stones thrown at us, have been able to continue fighting against the odds and continue offering the culturally and linguistically vital services our clients’ desperate need, besides juggling with per-reimbursement grants, fighting for justice for our clients, and pushing for system changes on behalf of all immigrant victims of violent crimes in our area.
Beyond the tangible outcomes, our services have fostered a sense of community, belonging, and solidarity among those we serve. CasaLuz has served as a beacon of hope in times of uncertainty, a lifeline for those in need, and a source of inspiration for future generations. Through our work, we have not only assisted but also instilled a sense of dignity, self-worth, and resilience in those we have had the privilege to serve.
